National Instruments PCI-6040E Multifunction DAQ

The NI PCI-6040E (Part number: 777383-01) allows the user to get up to 500 kS/s (1-channel, 250 kS/s multichannel), 12-bit resolution on 16 single-ended or 8 differential analog input channels. Contingent upon the user’s hard drive type, the PCI-6040E can stream to circle at rates up to 250 kS/s. It has 2 analog output channels with a 12-bit resolution and a data transfer rate of 1 MS/s. Additionally, it has 8 digital I/O lines with a 5 V TTL/CMOS compatibility, and 2 counter/timer I/O lines (with a 24-bit resolution and a frequency of 20 MHz).

The National Instruments PCI-6040E comes with SCANCLK, which is an output signal that creates a pulse with the main edge happening around 50 to 100 ns after an A/D transformation starts. The extremity of this output is programming selectable yet is commonly arranged with the goal that a low-to-high driving edge can clock outside simple input multiplexers showing when the information signal has been inspected and can be evacuated. This signal has a 400 to 500 ns beat width and is programming empowered. On the other hand, EXTSTROBE is an output signal that creates either a single pulse or an arrangement of eight pulses in the equipment strobe mode. An outside gadget can utilize this signal to hook signals or to trigger events. In the single-beat mode, programming controls the level of the EXTSTROBE signal. A 10 µs and a 1.2 µs clock are accessible for producing a grouping of eight pulses in the equipment strobe mode. The device is equipped with a 68-pin male 0.050 D-type I/O connector.

The NI PCI 6040E Multifunction DAQ offers two 12-bit simple outputs, 8 digital I/O lines, two 24-bit counter/clocks, real-time execution with a dedicated 700 MHz Pentium III locally available processor, 32 MB of DRAM for client characterized programs and 32 MB locally available CompactFlash, and 26 kHz maximum single PID circle rate. The NI device weighs 4.1 oz, and measures 6.9 x 4.2 in. in physical dimensions.

PCI-6040E End of Life Status has been announced by National Instruments, but it will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
