National Instruments PXI-1409 IMAQ Device

The National Instruments PXI-1409 (Part number: 778336-01) IMAQ Device supports four broadly useful control lines that are configurable to create exact timing signals for controlling camera acquisition. The NI PXI-1409 likewise supports four video sources and four outer I/O lines to use as triggers or digital I/O lines. This model offers advanced filter and LUT, its advanced channel expels chrominance from a composite color video signal that adjusts to either PAL or NTSC. The output of the computerized channel goes through the 1,024 × 10-bit lookup table (LUT). The user can configure the LUT to actualize basic imaging activities, such as contrast enhancement, data inversion, gamma correction, or other client characterized transfer capacities. The device has a video input impedance of 75 ohms.

The NI PXI-1409 has 16 MB of SDRAM for temporarily storing image information being exchanged to the framework memory through the PCI bus. The memory can store numerous image buffers. This model uses three independent onboard direct memory access (DMA) controllers. The DMA controllers exchange information between the onboard SDRAM memory cradle and the PCI bus. Every one of these controllers supports scatter-gather DMA, which enables the controllers to reconfigure on the fly. This usefulness empowers the NI PXI-1409 to perform persistent image exchanges specifically to either contiguous or divided memory buffers.

The genlock circuit incorporated in this model receives the incoming video signal and produces PCLK, HSYNC, and VSYNC signals for use by the acquisition and control hardware. The NI PXI-1409 IMAQ Device can lock to the standard RS-170/NTSC and CCIR/PAL video signals and in addition make a progressive scan and VGA (640 × 480 resolution) signals. The genlock circuit on the NI PXI-1409 can likewise lock to outer HSYNC and VSYNC or CSYNC signals.

The PXI-1409 is run using the NI-IMAQ driver software which is compatible with software packages like LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, or Microsoft Visual Basic. The NI device weighs 0.38 lb, and measures 3.9 x 6.3 in. in physical dimensions. It has a recommended operating temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C, a storage temperature range of –20 °C to 70 °C, and an operating and non-operating random vibration of 0.31 grms and 2.5 grms respectively–all at a frequency range of 5 to 500 Hz.
