National Instruments GPIB-ENET/1000 GPIB Instrument Control Device

This device is designed for computers with at least one operating Ethernet port. With the help of this device, the user can share one GPIB system between many networked hosts or control a broad range of test systems from one networked host.

The GPIB ENET/1000 comes featured with a powerful, password-protected web interface, which keeps the entire configuration process straightforward and timesaving. With this device, the user controls any IEEE 488 enabled device from any distant location over a TCP/IP network (Ethernet), such as 10BASE T, Gigabit, and 100BASE TX. The device is equipped with an IEEE 488 standard 24-pin, and a LED integrated RJ-45 connector.

The NI GPIB-ENET/1000 can interface to as many as 14 GPIB devices. Additionally, as many as 100 National Instruments GPIB-ENET/1000 devices can be controlled with a single computer. This GPIB controller comes with DHCP capability. Thus, it attempts to acquire the network configuration automatically. However, in case of a failure unit reverts to Auto IP addressing and ends up with a self-assigned IP (internet protocol) address in 169.254.x.x range. The NI device has a power requirement of 250 mA at 12 V typical, and a 500 mA at 12 V maximum.

This GPIB Instrument Control Device offers up to three times quicker rates on small byte data transfers and up to four times quicker rates on massive data transfers when compared to its predecessor, the GPIB-ENET/1000. This high-performance device supports a variety of operating systems including: Microsoft Windows (various versions), Mac OS X, and Linux. Also, the NI GPIB-ENET/1000 can provide 1480 Kbytes per second and 5600 Kbytes per second maximum while operating in 3-wire and HS488 mode respectively. The device weighs 13.9 oz., and measures 8.3 x 5.0 x 1.4 in. in dimensions. It has a recommended operating temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C, a storage temperature range of -40 °C to 70 °C, an operating and storage relative humidity of 10% to 90% and 5% to 95% respectively, and an operating and non-operating random vibration of 5 Hz to 500 Hz, 0.3 grm and 5 Hz to 500 Hz, 2.4 grms respectively.
