National Instruments cRIO-9063 CompactRIO Controller

The cRIO‑9063 (Part Number: 783830-01) from National Instruments is an Embedded Controller designed for cutting edge control of C Series modules. This 2-Core controller includes a Xilinx Zynq-7000 FPGA and offers 512 MB of nonvolatile memory, making it an excellent choice for a wide range of testing scenarios. Supported by a 32 Bit NI Linux Real-Time OS, the cRIO‑9063 boasts plenty of processing power for different applications. This device offers a variety of network ports- including one Gigabit Ethernet port, one USB host port, one USB device port, and one serial port. 

The USB host port of the cRIO‑9063 controller features a standard “A” connector, while the USB device port uses a standard “B” connector. Both of these ports are equipped with a maximum data rate of 480 Mbps, providing high-speed connectivity for external accessories. Designed with reverse-voltage protection, the cRIO‑9063 CompactRio controller is safeguarded against damage caused by opposing polarities. 

Additional hardware such as input devices or displays can be easily connected to the cRIO‑9063 using the controller’s RS-232 Serial Port. This device also features an RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet Port, which is configured to allow the user to automatically obtain an IP address. This Ethernet port can be configured in the Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) tool. 

In terms of power, the voltage input range of the cRIO‑9063 controller spans from a minimum of 9 VDC to a maximum of 30 VDC. The battery life of the module is typically 10 years when used with a power connector or 5 years when in storage at 55 °C. It is recommended that the controller is operated within temperatures ranging from -20 °C to 55 °C with a noncondensing humidity range of 10% to 90%. When in storage, the CompactRIO controller can be safely kept in an even wider temperature range of -40 °C to 85 °C with a noncondensing humidity ranging from 5% to 95%.
