National Instruments PXI-8368 PXI Remote Control Module

The NI PXI-8368 (Part Number: 789394-01, 157298A-02L) Remote Control Module has a vertical section of 2 LEDs on the back of the card close to the front connector. These LEDs give extra data about the link status of the PCI Express lines in the module to the backplane. Each group of four LEDs relates to one of the four PCI Express links to the backplane.

Since working frameworks and drivers normally make the presumption that the PXI-8368 module will be available in the framework from power-up to power-down, it is essential not to power-off the expansion chassis until after the host PC is powered off. Powering off the extension case while the host is still on can cause crashes. Notwithstanding, once the host PC is powered off, the order that the extension suspension is powered off is not critical.

The MXI-Express Remote Control Modules have either copper cabling, fiber-optic cabling, or both. Copper links offer higher information throughput ability but are for the most part shorter (1 to 10 meters), while fiber-optic links are accessible in longer choices (up to 100 meters) yet may have lower information throughput capacity. The PXI-8368 Remote Control Module only supports fiber-optic links. The National Instruments PXI-8368 can be used with copper cabling for a Gen2 x8 association (3.2 GB/s) or with fiber-optic cabling for a Gen2 x4 association (1.6 GB/s).
