Keysight N2101A-H10 PXIT Bit Error Ratio Tester
The Keysight N2101A-H10 Bit Error Ratio Tester or BERT runs a full-capacity bit error rate test frame in a double-wide 3U PXI module. This tester is comprised of a high-precision clock source, a data pattern generator, and an error detector. The Keysight N2101A-H10 can complete Bit Error Ratio assessment to characterize the excellence of instruments in a range between 1.0625 and 5 Gb/s.
The N2101A-H10 BERT uses its own user patterns and saves and imports text pattern files to and from the model. It can also generate and synchronize immediately with any specified pattern. Although it is not compatible, this feature is provided for users to characterize their equipment under test. The characteristics of the output signal are not completely defined. Deterministic jitter can be inserted into the data output and clock signals. The jitter rate (frequency up to 10 MHz) and the amplitude in time (approximately 20% of the user interface) can be varied by the control panel and the API.
This 3-slot 3U PXI module must be used with attenuators connected to the output connectors; otherwise it may result in loss of performance over an extended period of use. Another note of caution is that the N2101A-H10 BERT has not been assessed for implementation in clinical or medical applications. The user should take proper precautions when utilizing the Keysight N2101A-H10 for assessing lasers, while keeping in mind that every optical source must be disabled when attaching or detaching optical cables or equipment.
