Part Number 777080-01 is the identifying part number for the National Instruments ER-8 Electromechanical Relay. The relay is designed for dual functionality, capable of both switching and relay operations, making it versatile in various programs in both laboratory and industrial environments such as monitoring, testing, and control applications. It is a single-pole double-throw (SPDT) relay that has silver-nickel alloy as contact material.

The relay performs significantly better when interfaced with other National Instruments digital devices, particularly MIO (Multi-Function I/O) and Lab devices. The 777080-01 features 8 independent relays, each controlled by its digital line, allowing for precise operation. These relays can either be controlled from a common signal or operated independently for flexibility in performance.

The maximum switching capacity at the resistive load is 3 A at 250 VAC or 30 VDC. The switching current is 3 A (maximum) per channel or 24 A (maximum) for all channels. The 777080-01 works with the operating principle of a break-before-make switching mechanism. This ensures that during the switching process, the contacts are isolated before the new connection is made, thereby preventing short circuits and enhancing operational safety.

The 777080-01 functions as an accessory to other Data Acquisition (DAQ) devices, eliminating the need for dedicated software. It comprises of a POWER LED and 8-channel LEDs to indicate the status of power and channels. The relay has a maximum working voltage of 250 Vrms, an operating time of 10 ms, and a release time of 5 ms. 

The 777080-01 is equipped with the following external connectors: DIO-24 and DIO-32 50-pin male ribbon cable front connectors. Furthermore, it has IN and OUT 26-pin male ribbon cables as internal connectors, facilitating easy integration into various systems.

The relay can be daisy-chained to the ER-16 to make a 24-relay block in a specified application requirement. Connection is made via NB7 cable. The 777080-01 measures 6.9 x 2.05 x 4.82 inches in physical dimensions. It has a recommended operating temperature range of 0°C to 50°C and a storage temperature range of -55°C to 150 °C at a relative humidity of 5% to 90%.
