National Instruments 783422-01 RAID Array

Part Number 783422-01 is the identifying part number for the National Instruments HDD-8266 RAID Array. This is a chassis designed for streaming to and from disk applications and supports up to 24 enterprise-class SATA hard drives controlled by a 24-port PCI Express RAID controller.  Although the device is preconfigured as RAID 0, it exhibits good performance under RAID5 and RAID6. 

The RAID system consists of an NI PXIe-8384 in a PXI Express or CompactPCI Express chassis, connected to the 783422-01. The device can use the full bandwidth of the PCI Express x8 (Generation 2) technology to achieve the maximum throughput, the PXI host controller and the PXI Express chassis must support x8 PXI Express devices. Note that the device will also work with non-x8 PXI Express controllers albeit at a reduced speed. The device uses an Adaptec 72405 model as the RAID card and has LEDs that give status information about power supplies and the link state. 

The 783422-01 measures 2U × 440 × 558.8 mm in physical dimensions and weighs 17.55 kg, 15.15 kg, and 17.74 kg for the 3.5 TB, 5.75 TB, and 24 TB variants respectively. The device's maximum cable length is three meters. The device has a power requirement specification of 100 to 240 V, 7 to 3.5 A. Its idle and active power are 150 W and 175 W, respectively, while its max inrush power is 280 W.

The 783422-01 has an operating temperature range of 5 to 35 °C, 0 to 45 °C, and 5 to 35 °C for 3.5 TB, 5.75 TB, and 24 TB variants respectively at a relative humidity of 10% to 90%. Conversely, it may be kept at temperatures ranging from -20 to 70 °C and relative humidity levels between 5% and 95%. Keep in mind that the module is only intended for indoor usage and should only be used up to 2000 meters above the ground.
