National Instruments ER-16 Electromechanical Relay
The NI ER-16 is an Electromechanical Relay. The ER-16 is developed by National Instruments. The part number of this relay is 777081-01. The ER-16 can be used as a controller as well as a switcher, depending upon the application requirements. The NI ER-16 is compatible with the majority of NI digital DAQ boards. Moreover, this Electromechanical Relay can interface with the MIO and Lab devices. A special SC-205X cable adapter is required for this purpose.
The ER-16 Electromechanical Relay is equipped with 16 isolated relay channels. The relay channels are SPDT or Form C. The channel count of the NI ER-16 can be increased to 32 channels by connecting two relays through daisy chain. When this Electromechanical Relay is used as a switcher, its operating mode is break-before-make. The ER-16 features screw terminals for easy installation and field connections. The relays of the NI ER-16 offer NO, NC, and COM connections. The relay channels can be programmed to be used simultaneously or individually. Each relay channel can withstand an isolation voltage up to 250 Vrms. This Electromechanical Relay also offers Arc-suppressor pads for safety. This feature is particularly helpful when used with inductive load. Additionally, the device has an operate time of 10 ms and a release time of 5 ms.
The ER-16 Electromechanical Relay can draw power from connected DAQ devices. However, if required, an additional external power supply can also be connected. Built-in connections for an external power supply are provided in the NI ER-16. This relay is suitable for a wide range of applications. The ER-16 finds its major use in testing, monitoring, and control applications. The ER-16 is frequently used in Lab as well as production testing.
The ER-16 has a unit mass of 8 g, and measures 6.9 x 2.05 x 4.82 in. in physical dimensions. The device coil has a nominal voltage of 5 to 48 VDC, a nominal power of 360 mW (standard type) and 250 mW (high sensitive type), and an operate power of 177 mW (standard type) and 130 mW (high sensitive type). It has an operating temperature range of –40 to 85 °C (standard type) and –40 to 90 °C (high sensitive type).
