National Instruments ER-8 Electromechanical Relay
The NI ER-8 is a general-purpose Electromechanical Relay. The manufacturer of the ER-8 is National Instruments. The part number of the ER-8 is 777080-01. The NI ER-8 is a dual-function device which can perform switching as well as relay operations. The ER-8 is a single-pole double-throw type relay. This relay can perform all its functions when it is interfaced with other NI digital devices. MIO and Lab devices are also compatible with this Electromechanical Relay. The NI ER-8 is designed for testing and control applications. This relay can be used in labs as well as industrial monitoring and testing.
This Electromechanical Relay comes with 8 independent relays. To control these relays, 8 digital lines are provided. These relays can be operated from a common signal or independently. The relays are equipped with different connection options, including normally open, normally close, and common. As a switching device, the operating mechanism of the NI ER-8 is break-before-make. This feature ensures the contacts are isolated and short-circuit doesn’t happen during operation. The ER-8 is used as an accessory to other DAQ devices. Therefore, it doesn’t need any dedicated software for operation. 1 Power LED and 8 Channel LEDs are also offered in the ER-8 to indicate the status of power and channels. The device has a maximum working voltage of 250 Vrms, an operate time of 10 ms, and a release time of 5 ms. It is equipped with DIO-24 and DIO-32 50-pin male ribbon cable front connectors and an IN and OUT 26-pin male ribbon-cable internal connectors.
The NI ER-8 can be daisy chained to the ER-16 to make a 24-relay block in a specified application requirement. To connect the ER-8 with the ER-16, the NB7 cable is used. The ER-8 has two power options. This relay can use the internal supply of the connected DAQ module, or it can take power from an external power supply.
The NI device measures 6.9 x 2.05 x 4.82 in. in physical dimensions. It has a recommended operating temperature range of 0° to 50° C, a storage temperature range of -55° to 150° C, and a noncondensing relative humidity of 5% to 90%.
