National Instruments EXM-GPIB Expansion Interface Board
The EXM-GPIB (Part Number: 182355-01) is an Interface Board developed by National Instruments. The NI EXM-GPIB is designed to provide flexibility and extension in applications where a large number of modules is required. This Interface Board can be interfaced to as many as 13 devices simultaneously using standard GPIB cables. A special design feature of the EXM-GPIB is the minimum EMI emissions. This feature is achieved by connecting the shield ground of the NI EXM-GPIB with its logic ground. This board also offers register-compatibility with the AT-GPIB board.
This Interface Board features EXM slots with a resolution of 16-bits. The electrical circuit of the NI EXM-GPIB is the same as that of the PC ISA Bus. The interface of this board is IEE 488. The EXM-GPIB is compatible with embedded RadiSys PC systems. However, keep in mind that the NI EXM-GPIB does not function if installed in an 8-bit expansion slot (PC-style). This Interface Board can be used with NI-488.2 driver software. NI-488.2 can operate on Windows version 3.0 or higher and supports a maximum of four EXM-GPIB boards. The driver is compatible with IEEE 488 and IEEE 488.2 instruments. The NI EXM-GPIB also supports other application programming software types, such as LabVIEW, CNI, and LabWindows.
The NI EXM-GPIB is a high-speed interface board. This Interface Board can read and write at a speed up to 1 Mbytes/s. The maximum command speed of the EXM-GPIB is 500 kbytes/s. This board comes with a 24-pin connector. The connector type is standard IEEE 488.
