National Instruments HDD-8263 RAID Array
Featured with a 4-port hardware RAID controller, the HDD-8263 (Part Number: 780065-01) is a 1U Chassis created for RAID applications. This model is capable of handling up to four SATA hard drives. The NI HDD-8263 is an excellent storage choice that can easily be connected with your existing PXI system through a PXI extension module.
The connectivity between the PXI chassis and the RAID Array is maintained through a specially designed x4 cabled PCIe cable. The NI HDD-8263 is designed to provide you with a maximum read/write rate of 150 MB/s (on the inside of the array). In its default configuration, the system is delivered as RAID 0. However, you can always customize your device to work in other modes, such as RAID 5, RAID 10, RAID 1, and JBOD. In typical configurations, you need a PXI Express chassis and controller, a PCI Express x4 cable and a PXI extension module (NI 8262) to configure and use your HDD-8263.
A RAID Array operating in a redundant mode supports hot swapping installed hard drives. Thus, you can always replace a bad hard drive with a newer one and recover your valuable data. The RAID 0 mode is the most efficient mode. National Instruments does not recommend operating this device in other modes. However, for limited time operations and under specific scenarios, you can reconfigure your HDD-8263 to operate in another supported RAID mode. This storage module is designed to support up to 3-meter cables.
HDD-8263 Maintenance Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the RAID Array will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
