National Instruments PCI-6723 Analog Output Device
Featured with 32 Voltage Outputs, the National Instruments PCI-6723 (Part Number: 778701-01) is a 13-Bit, Multifunction Analog Output Device. This model delivers high-density analog outputs at a low cost to suit a broad range of applications. The PCI-6723 offers 800 kS/s update rate while operating with one channel and 204 kS/s while operating at its full capacity, with all 32 channels in service.
This model supports DC output coupling with 0.1 Ω output impedance. This device also comes equipped with two 68-pin I/O connectors. The 8 TTL/CMOS compatible digital I/O lines on this model support data transfers in programmed I/O mode. For time-related functions, the NI PCI-6723 comes equipped with 1 frequency scaler and 2 up/down counters/timers. The counters/timers have a 24-bit resolution, base clocks of 20 MHz and 100 kHz with an accuracy of ±0.01%, and a frequency of 20MHz. The low and high input voltage levels offered by this device are 0.0 V to 0.8 V and 2.0 V to 5.0 V respectively. This device offers 0.4 low output voltage level and 4.35 V high output voltage level.
The NI PCI 6723 supports 5 V TTL compatible digital triggers for analog outputs as well as for counters/timers from PFI <0..9>, and generates rising or falling edge responses accordingly. This Analog Output Device comes with an integrated RTSI bus. Standard RTSI bus cables can be utilized to connect the device with other vision, motion, and measurement and CAN boards. The PCI-6723 NI is compatible with almost all of the major software programs, available such as C/C++, Visual Basic, Visual Studio .NET, Analog Waveform Editor, Measurement Studio, LabVIEW, etc. The device has a power requirement of 300 mA at +3.3 VDC, and 1.5 A typical/3 A maximum at +5 VDC. It has 7 trigger lines and 1 RSTI clock. Additionally, it has a recommended warm-up time of 15 minutes, and should be calibrated at least once a year.
The NI device measures 6.85 x 3.85 in. in physical dimensions. It has a recommended operating temperature range of 0 °C to 50 °C, and a storage temperature range of -20 °C to 70 °C.

National Instruments PCI-6723 Frequently Asked Questions
Question: The NI PCI-6723 has an output current limit of 5 mA/channel. If a power amplifier is connected with an output channel on the NI PCI-6723 and draws greater than 5 mA current, what will the result be? Will it damage the card?
Answer: The result should be that the current output will rail around 5 mA for each channel and the voltage will lower accordingly. The protection on the NI PCI-6723 is short circuit to ground, which means that even if you short one of the outputs it should not damage the card.
Question: Does the PCI-6723 NI have an external voltage reference?
Answer: No, the PCI-6723 NI does not have an external voltage reference.
Question: Which type of triggering does the PCI 6723 have?
Answer: The PCI 6723 has digital triggering.
Question: What is the update rate for each channel on the PCI-6723?
Answer: Each channel on the PCI-6723 has an update rate of 45 kS/s to 800 kS/s.
