National Instruments sbRIO-9269E Analog Voltage Output Module
The National Instruments sbRIO-9269E is a simultaneous, 4-channel, ±10 V, 16-bit, isolated analog voltage output module that is intended for use in industrial automation applications. The sbRIO-9269E makes it simple to connect to loads by including detachable screw-terminal connectors for each of its four analog output channels. The positive lead is connected to the AO+ terminal, while the ground is connected to the AO– terminal. Operating autonomously, each channel offers segregated signal pathways for enhanced signal quality and operational safety—essential in settings with numerous electrical systems and elevated noise levels.
The sbRIO-9269E's analog output channels are floating in relation to each other, the earth, and the ground, providing flexibility in a range of system topologies. The module produces precise voltage signals using an R-2R DAC type and a DAC resolution of 16 bits. By enabling simultaneous updates for all four channels, it improves system performance. Each channel has overvoltage and short-circuit protection as part of the safety features that shield workers and equipment from possible risks. Its current handling constraints prevent it from being able to parallel output channels for higher current drive, even if it can source and sink current.
This module supports a low-power sleep mode, depending on the compatibility of the chassis it is plugged into, contributing to energy efficiency in automation systems. Operational temperature range spans from -40 to 85 °C, ensuring reliability in harsh industrial environments. Important parameters are a nominal output voltage range of ±10 V and a maximum current drive of ±20 mA for all channels, with an average of ±10 mA per channel. With a rated output impedance of 100 mΩ, stable signal transmission is guaranteed. To ensure long-term signal accuracy, other performance measurements include stability numbers such offset drift at 80 μV/°C and gain drift at 14 ppm/°C. Features for protection include a ±30 V overvoltage tolerance and infinite short-circuit endurance. The NI sbRIO-9269E strikes a balance between performance and energy efficiency with a low power consumption of 1 W max in active mode and 120 μW max in sleep mode.
