Part Number 776836-01 is the identifying part number for the National Instruments AT-GPIB/TNT AT Series IEEE 488.2 Interface Board. The 776836-01 comes equipped with the TNT4882C ASIC and uses the NI-488.2M software to transform any ISA or EISA bus computer into a fully functional GPIB Talker/Listener/Controller. Likewise, it complies with the Plug and Play ISA Standard and is completely software-configurable. The TNT4882C also implements the HS488 high-speed protocol, which increases the maximum data transfer rate of the interface board to 2.2 Mbytes/s, when used in an ISA bus.

The 776836-01 is fully compatible with all versions of the AT-GPIB hardware. You can use standard GPIB cables to connect the interface board with up to 14 instruments. Likewise, a bus extender can be used if you want to increase the maximum number of supported instruments. The 776836-01 supports the following data transfer rates: 1.5 Mbytes/s when using the 3-Wire (IEEE 488) standard and 2.2 Mbytes/s when using the High Speed (HS488) standard. Note that the actual speed may vary considerably due to system and instrumentation capabilities. The power requirement from the PC AT I/O channel at +5 VDC is typically 120 mA and this can reach up to a maximum of 200 mA

The 776836-01 measures (4.2 in. by 6.5 in.) in physical dimensions and uses an IEEE 488 Standard 24-Pin connector for I/IO purposes. The module is recommended for operation in between temperatures of 0° to 55° C at a relative humidity of 10% to 90%. On the other hand, it can be stored at a wider temperature range of -20° to 70° C at a relative humidity of 5% to 90%. The 776836-01 is supported by major operating system platforms like Windows NT, Windows 95, and DOS. The NI-488.2M software for Windows NT includes a loadable Windows NT kernel device driver and supporting utilities, including device driver, diagnostic test, configuration utility, interactive control program, software development utilities, language library support, and example programs.
