National Instruments AT-CAN/2 Controller Area Network Interface
The AT-CAN/2 is a dual-port Controller Area Network Interface manufactured by National Instruments. The AT-CAN/2 interface contains 9-pin D-Sub connectors featuring high-speed CAN in the ISA form factor. This Controller Area Network Interface provides quick and effective interfacing of a notebook PC or a desktop with the CAN bus. The Philips SJA1000 CAN controller present in the AT-CAN/2 is compatible with CAN 2.0B, which offers a wide range of data transfer rates up to 1 Mbps. The AT-CAN/2 CAN Interface contains an Intel 386EX embedded processor to instigate the time-critical features imparted by NI-CAN software. The Controller Area Network Interface conforms to ISO 11898 standards for controller area network interfaces and backs low and high-speed fault-tolerant physical layers. Additionally, the AT-CAN/2 also supports a single-wire controller area network (CAN).
For synchronizing multiple interface cards in a system with common timing and triggering signals, the AT-CAN/2 conforms to the Real-Time System Integration (RTSI) bus. This Controller Area Network Interface can be configured by software for compliance with Local Bus Specifications, featuring a MITE bus interface chip by National Instruments to allow a PC to control and communicate with CAN devices. The physical layers of the hardware can be selected by XS software; hence, a CAN port can be easily configured as a Single Wire, External Transceiver, High-Speed, or Low-Speed interface. The Philips TJA1041 transceiver in the High-Speed hardware and Philips TJA1054A transceiver in the Low-Speed/Fault-Tolerant hardware improve the voltage tolerance and increase EMC performance.
AT-CAN/2 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the interface will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
