National Instruments NI-9229 C Series Voltage Input Module
Featured with the capability to perform differential analog inputs, the National Instruments NI-9229 (Part Numbers: 779785-01, 780180-01, and 779785-02) is a 4-Channel, Simultaneous Input Voltage Module from the C Series. Because of the ±60 V input range, maximum sample rate of 50 kS/s per channel, and a 24-Bit resolution, the NI-9229 is an effective module for general applications. With channel-to-channel isolation, this Voltage Module protects the entire system and the device under test (DUT) from harmful voltage surges. Moreover, the isolation feature also helps in eliminating measurement errors caused by ground loops as this module operates with a floating front end.
The NI-9229 is available ina couple of variations: one version with a screw terminal type front end connector (Part Number: 779785-01) and another configuration with a BNC type front end connector (Part Number: 780180-01). Both versions have identical characteristics with the analog input isolation rating as the only exception. Part number 779785-02 is the conformal coated version of the NI-9229. The screw terminal version offers 250 Vrms Ch-Ch Isolation, whereas its counterpart with BNC type connectors is designed to provide 60 VDC Ch-Ch Isolation. The National Instruments NI-9229 fully supports CompactDAQ and CompactRIO hardware platforms. Also, it is compatible with software packages like LabVIEW Professional Development System for Windows, LabVIEW FPGA Module, and LabVIEW Real-Time Module.
To reject out-of-band signals and to produce an accurate representation of in-band signals, the NI 9229 utilizes a combination of digital and analog filtering. This Voltage Input Module comes equipped with a Delta-Sigma type, 24-bit ADC. The screw terminal version of the NI-9229 consumes 760 mW of power and the BNC connector version consumes 820 mW of maximum power. A properly calibrated NI-9229 module can operate with ±0.03% gain error and ±0.008% offset error in typical measurement conditions.
The NI device is equipped with either a screw-terminal or BNC front connector. The screw-terminal fitted model weighs 5.2 oz while the BNC fitted model has a weight of 6.0 oz. Additionally, the screw-terminal model has a power consumption of 740 mW maximum in active mode while the BNC model consumes 800 mW maximum of power. It has a recommended operating temperature range of -40 °C to 70 °C, and a storage temperature range of -40 °C to 85 °C.
