National Instruments NI-9242 C Series Voltage Input Module

The National Instruments NI-9242 (Part Number: 783107-01) is a 3-Channel, 24-Bit Voltage Input Module. This model offers three channels for measurements between the neutral channel and the signal. The neutral channel offers measurements between the chassis ground and the neutral terminal. With this configuration, users will be able to connect single-phase or three-phase measurement or three-phase measurement configurations like WYE and delta. The NI 9242 is fully compatible with the National Instruments LabVIEW Electrical Power Suite that allows users the development of power metering, monitoring, or quality analysis applications. The device should be externally calibrated at least once a year.

This Voltage Input Module is designed to handle signal levels up to 250 Vrms L-N and 400 Vrms L-L. This module can acquire samples simultaneously at a rate of 50 kS/s for each channel. To meet standards such as C37.90, IEC 61010 1, C37.60, IEC 60255 1, and more, users can consider incorporating the National Instruments NI 9242 into other systems as well. This Voltage Input Module comes from the C Series and features an independent ADC and signal path per channel. This module returns the voltage between each Neutral terminal and the AI terminal, as well as the voltage between the chassis ground and the Neutral terminal. To provide an accurate representation of signals, the NI 9242 comes equipped with a combination of digital and analog filters. The device is equipped with a screw terminal front connector.  

The National Instruments NI 9242 can be considered in a variety of operating environments since the temperature range is -40 °C to 70 °C. This module draws 332 mW of power (max) from the host chassis while operating in active mode, and consumes up to 50 µW when in sleep mode.
The NI device weighs 5.3 oz. It has a recommended storage temperature range of -40 °C to 85 °C, non-condensing operating and storage humidity ranges of 10% RH to 90% RH and 5% RH to 95% RH respectively, random and sinusoidal operating vibrations of 5 grms and 5 g respectively–all at a frequency range of 10 to 500 Hz.

The NI-9242 is available to be calibrated. While the recommended calibration period for individual parts varies, most parts should be calibrated either annually or every two years to ensure accuracy.
