National Instruments NI-9247 C Series Current Input Module
Featured with 3 Isolated Analog Input Channels and 50 kS/s per channel Simultaneous Sample Rate, the National Instruments NI-9247 (Part Number: 783589-01) is a Current Input Module designed for 1 A and 5 A nominal CTs. The three channel design feature of the NI 9247 enables it to offer direct ring lug based connectivity to current transformers. With a range of 50 Arms, this model is an optimal solution for energy, power, and industrial applications where continuous AC measurements are needed. These applications include industrial machine measurements, substation merging units, power quality monitoring, power metering, etc.
The National Instruments NI-9247 module can also be utilized for up to 100 Arms instantaneous and ±147 Apeak measurements. This Current Input Module measures currents flowing into and out of its AI+ and AI- as positive polarity. For each channel, A + or A - symbols are clearly molded into the plastic near each channel`s respective lug terminal. The device is equipped with ring terminal front connectors.
The NI-9247 is run using the NIDAQmx driver software which is compatible with software packages like LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, or Visual Basic .NET.
In this module, each channel operates in complete isolation from earth ground and other channels. The isolation ratings of 480 Vrms between channels and 300 Vrms to Earth makes the inputs ideal for direct measurements of current at line voltages up to 277 V/480 V. However, it is to be noted that the NI-9247 is designed for AC measurements only and it does not measure DC currents. The DC value is ignored when frequency-specific measurements such as phasor measurements, harmonic analysis, or fundamental line frequency amplitude measurements are made through algorithms like those provided with the National Instruments LabVIEW Electrical Power Suite.
The NI device weighs 8.75 oz. It has a recommended operating temperature range of -40 °C to 70 °C, a storage temperature range of -40 °C to 85 °C, noncondensing operating and storage humidity ranges of 10% RH to 90% RH and 5% RH to 95% RH respectively, random and sinusoidal operating vibrations of 5 grms and 5 g respectively–all at a frequency range of 10 to 500 Hz.
