National Instruments part number 778618-01 is an identifying part number for the cFP-CB-1, an Integrated Connector Block with 36 Screw Terminals and a 250 Volts Voltage Limit. The NI 778618-01 is designed for wiring to Compact FieldPoint I/O. When mounted to the backplane, it provides a convenient way to connect sensors and actuators. It also features a thermistor for cold junction compensation when used with thermocouples. This general-purpose device is designed to handle hazardous voltage operation. Its terminals are wired with 16 to 26 AWG copper wire, with 6 mm of insulation stripped from the end, except when working with a sensing device. 

The 778618-01 is a general-purpose connector block suitable for any I/O module. The 36 terminals featured on the device simplify wiring by removing the need to connect multiple wires to a single terminal. It also comes with an independent wire tie connector and an integrated strain relief bar, which simplify the process of setting up safe wiring configurations for high shock and vibration applications. Compact FieldPoint thermocouple input modules can measure the terminal temperature on this Connector Block. This measurement, known as the cold junction temperature, compensates for the thermoelectric voltages generated at the junctions. 

For the most accurate cold junction compensation, it's important to note that heat from nearby modules or other sources can warm the terminals and cause errors in thermocouple measurements. The thermal gradient across the terminals can cause different channels to have varying temperatures. The actual thermal gradient depends on the connector block used and the specifics of the user's setup. To minimize the thermal gradient, use the 778618-01 for connecting thermocouple signals. This Connector Block is designed to maintain uniform temperature across its terminals. The suggested working and storage temperature ranges for the NI device are -40 to 70 °C and -55 to 85 °C, respectively.
