National Instruments cFP-1804 Ethernet/Serial Backplane for Compact FieldPoint
The NI cFP-1804 Ethernet/Serial Backplane (Part Number: 779490-01) is created to be mounted on a panel or in a regular 19 inch rack. Prior to utilizing these mounting procedures, the user should write down the serial number from the back of the model. It is important to keep in mind that if the user is utilizing UL Recognized I/O modules with the Compact FieldPoint system, then they must install the complete system in an appropriately rated, UL Listed NEMA or IP enclosure. To guarantee the most cooling efficiency, the user should mount the Compact FieldPoint system so that the I/O module vents are at the top and bottom. The device has communication rates of 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps, and auto-negotiated rate.
The 4-slot cFP-1804 Backplane has the capability to link Compact FieldPoint I/O modules to a high-speed Ethernet network or an RS-232 serial port (can be linked using a 9-pin D-SUB male-to-female straight-to cable). To use the device on an Ethernet or serial network, it must first be configured with the Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) tool. To link I/O modules to input signals or to external loads, the user must install a cFP-CB-x Connector Block or other connectivity accessory for every I/O model on the Backplane. The user can utilize the connector socket to the right side of every I/O model socket. The user should be cautious not to install or take out connector blocks or other connectivity accessories while power is brought to them. The device has a 10BaseT and 100BaseTX Ethernet network interface, and is compatible with the IEEE802.3.
The cFP-1804 is run using the FieldPoint software which is compatible with software packages/application development environments (ADEs) such as LabVIEW, LabVIEW Real-Time module, LabWindows/CVI, Measurement Studio, or VI Logger. Your ADE of choice should be installed ahead of the FieldPoint software.
The user can link the National Instruments cFP-1804 Backplane to an Ethernet network, an RS-232 network, or both. The user can additionally build a PC-based distributed I/O and control system by linking a minimum of two NI cFP-1804 instruments to the user’s PC. The device weighs 2 lbs.
