National Instruments cFP-CB-4 Compact FieldPoint Probeable Connector Block
The NI cFP-CB-4 (Part Number: 780017-04) has a removable connector with 20 screw terminals which are accessible on the front of the model. This feature allows for simple wiring and probing. This Compact FieldPoint Connector Block can be mounted on the cFP-BP-x or cFP-180x Compact FieldPoint Backplane and offers a suitable method for linking sensors and actuators. With the use of the cFP-CB-4, the user can wire signals to the inputs and outputs of many Compact FieldPoint modules with ease. The cFP-CB-4 Connector Block is well-suited for prototyping and troubleshooting applications. National Instruments suggests affixing ferrules to the ends of all signal wires if the user’s application is prone to hazardous voltage and/or high vibration.
For the NI cFP-CB-4, the user can utilize V terminals for VSUP links and C terminals for COM links. The V terminals on this model are internally linked to each other, as are the C terminals. If the user would like to link wires to the detachable screw-terminal connector on the cFP-CB-4, then they need a flathead screwdriver with a blade less than 0.09 x 0.04 inches. The first step is to confirm there are not any cuts in the wire insulation that could result in a safety hazard. Then, the user can strip 0.35 inches of insulation from the ends of the wires. Next, place the complete whole stripped ends of the wires into the correct screw terminals. Be careful not to let any bare wire remain visible outside of the screw terminals. Then, tighten the screw terminals to 0.22–0.25 N ⋅ m (1.9–2.2 lb ⋅ in.) of torque. Afterwards, place the connector into the NI cFP-CB-4 and tighten the screws on the ends of the connector. The connector block is equipped with 4 built-in CJC, and has a cold-junction accuracy of 0.15 °C typical and 0.3 °C maximum.
The cFP-CB-4 weighs 5.0 oz. It has recommended operating and storage temperature ranges of –40 to 70 °C and –55 to 85 °C respectively, a non-condensing relative humidity range of 10 to 90%, random and sinusoidal operating vibrations of 5 grms and 5 g respectively–at a frequency range of 10 to 500 Hz.
