National Instruments cFP-DO-401 Digital Output Module for Compact FieldPoint

The cFP-DO-401 (Part number: 777318-401) is a Digital Output Module for Compact FieldPoint by National Instruments. The DO module is used to control digital signals. This module features built-in diagnostics. This feature ensures easy installation and hassle-free maintenance. The NI cFP-DO-401 also has a plug-and-play feature, which ensures the module is automatically detected and recognized when connected. The module has a special bus for the power distribution bus, which is used for powering multiple terminals.  The cFP-DO-401 also offers module-to-module isolation. This feature helps protect the communication interface from overvoltage. However, the module has no isolation between its adjacent channels.

The National Instruments cFP-DO-401 has 16 digital output channels. The output type of these channels is voltage and its range is 5 V to 30V. The impedance of the output channels is in the range of 0.3 to 2 Ω. The output current of the module is 0.67 A to 1.5 A. The DO module has an all channel update rate of 20 kHz. A flyback diode is also available in the cFP-DO-401. It gives protection against the inductive load. The power requirement of the module is 730 mW. The cFP-DO-401 can sustain a transient voltage of 2300 Vrms. The DO module is also protected against continuous 250 Vrms. The cFP-DO-401 is compatible with 12 VDC and 24 VDC devices.

The NI cFP-DO-401 Digital Output Module features 18 green indicators. Two LEDs indicate the POWER and READY status of the module. The other 16 LEDs are associated with output channels. These LEDs show if a particular channel is being updated or not.  The NI device weighs 4.1 oz, and measures 4.2 x 4.3 x 3.6 in. in physical dimensions. It has a recommended operating temperature range of –40 to 70 °C, a storage temperature range of –55 to 85 °C, a recommended noncondensing humidity range of 10 to 90% RH, a random operating vibration of 5 grms (at a frequency of 10 to 500 Hz), a sinusoidal operating vibration of 5 g at 10 to 500 Hz.

NI cFP-DO-401 Mature Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the module will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
