National Instruments cFP-RTD-124 Temperature Input Module for Compact FieldPoint
The cFP-RTD-124 (Part number: 777318-124) is a Temperature Input Module manufactured by National Instruments. This module is suitable to measure millivolt level voltages and thermocouples and is also workable for 2, 3, and 4-wire RTDs with applications such as process control and device testing. Moreover, it is viable for temperature chamber control. Thermocouple sensors are flexible temperature and cheaper devices. RTD devices are preferred in applications in which temperatures acquired with high accuracy. Two and 3-wire RTDs are preferable for applications with low noise levels and short signal wires and. 4-wire RTDs are well matched for applications with high noise levels and long signal wires. The NI cFP-RTD-124 can measure and linearize signals as well.
The NI cFP-RTD-124 can be calibrated to ensure reliable and precise analog measurements. This Temperature Input Module can measure direct resistance with a 400 Ω range. The resolution is 16-bit. The backplane provides the operating power to the module. RTD types are detailed by nominal resistance at 0 and material composition. It is also characterized by °C and TCR. The NI cFP-RTD-124 can measure the temperature of platinum RTDs directly. This module can also provide inputs for 100 Ω platinum RTDs. These RTDs are generally referred to as PT100 RTDs. The device has a power requirement of 350 mW.
The NI cFP-RTD-124 has the analog to digital conversion. The ADC is the Delta-sigma type. Each channel has software selectable input signal ranges. It has 3 Hz signal input bandwidth. Each channel is updated once in a second.
The NI device weighs 3.7 oz, and measures 5.0 x 3.5 x 1.0 in. in physical dimensions. It has a recommended operating temperature range of –40 to 70 °C, a storage temperature range of –55 to 100 °C, a non-condensing humidity range of 10 to 90% RH, and a random and sinusoidal operating vibration of 5 grms and 5g respectively–all at a frequency range of 10 to 500 Hz. The cFP-RTD-124 is designed to conform to industry standards for the safe use of electrical equipment; standards such as: - EN 61010-1, IEC 61010-1, - UL 3121-1, and - CAN/CSA C22.2 No. 1010.1.
