National Instruments cFP-TC-120 Thermocouple Input Module

The National Instruments cFP-TC-120 (Part Number: 777318-120) is an 8-Channel Thermocouple Input Module. This model comes with integrated cold-junction compensation and linearization for eight types of thermocouple:  B, E, R, K, J, N, T, and S. The NI cFP-TC-120 comes featured with open-thermocouple detection mechanism and indicator LEDs. This module offers 2,300 Vrms overvoltage protection for transients between the I/O channels and the inter-module communication bus. The cFP-TC-120 can easily be mounted on a FieldPoint backplane since it is a hot plug-and-play type of device. Therefore, it can be installed without disturbing the operation of any already operating connector blocks or modules.

This module has a broad -40 to 70° C operating temperature range, which makes it an appropriate choice to be utilized in several applications. Also, it has a recommended storage temperature range of –55 to 85 °C. This model offers 16-bits resolution and features an integrated 50/60 Hz noise filter as well. The NI cFP-TC-120 is a versatile temperature input module for Compact FieldPoint that can be used to measure 2-3,3-, 4-Wire RTDs, thermistors, thermocouples, and millivolt-level voltages. This model comes with significant capabilities; thus, it is considered a reliable solution for temperature monitoring/controlling related applications, including device testing, temperature chamber controlling, and process controlling. The device has a weight of 3.7 oz, with the dimensions: 5.0 x 3.5 x 1.0 in. It has four input voltage ranges: ±25, ±50, ±100, and –20 to 80 mV. With this module, the user can receive readings in three ranges: –454 to 3,218 °F, 0 to 2,048 K, and –270 to 1,770 °C.

To ensure reliable and accurate analog measurements, the cFP-TC-120 has a NIST-traceable calibration certificate. This model offers 250 Vrms common-mode isolation between all modules and channels. Also, this model provides double insulation for operational isolation up to 250 Vrms. The National Instruments cFP-TC-120 can be safely utilized with the cFP-CB-1 or 3 connector block in potentially hazardous applications. The device has an input bandwidth of 3 Hz, an overvoltage protection of ±40 V, an input current of 35 nA typ, 140 nA max, and an input noise of ±1 LSB peak-to-peak.
