National Instruments 779564-01 CompactRIO Controller

The National Instruments 779564-01 is an embedded real-time controller which belongs to the cRIO-9014 model series. This robust, fanless controller is specifically designed for advanced control and monitoring applications, providing exceptional performance in harsh environments. Featuring a 400 MHz CPU, 128 MB of DRAM, and 2 GB of nonvolatile storage, the 779564-01 delivers reliable processing power for demanding industrial tasks.

To accommodate a range of application requirements, this CompactRIO Controller has multiple connectivity choices. It includes a single Ethernet connection that is compatible with IEEE 802.3 and supports the 10Base-T and 100Base-TX standards, enabling 10 Mbps and 100 Mbps of connectivity. With auto-negotiation enabled, the Ethernet port can handle up to 100 meters of cabling per segment for optimal network performance. Further connectivity for peripheral devices is provided by the device's USB port, which has a maximum data throughput of 12 Mb/s and a maximum current supply of 500 mA.

The controller has an SMB connector with particular output and input properties for digital signal interfacing. The output characteristics include a sink/source current of ±50 mA, a driver type of CMOS, a logic low of 0 V, and a logic high of 3.3 V. A minimum input voltage of -500 mV, a minimum low-level input voltage of 990 mV, a maximum high-level input voltage of 2.31 V, and a maximum input voltage of 5.5 V are among the input characteristics. 2.5 pF is the usual input capacitance, and 1 kΩ to 3.3 V is the normal resistive strapping.

An RS-232 serial port with a maximum baud rate of 115,200 bps is also included in the 779564-01. This port supports configurations of data bits of 5, 6, 7, or 8 and stop bits of 1 or 2. In order to integrate with a variety of serial devices frequently found in industrial environments, this serial communication capability is necessary.

Notably, integrated C Series I/O module slots are not included in the cRIO-9014 variant, which includes the 779564-01. In order to make use of the C Series I/O modules, the 779564-01 must be used in conjunction with a compatible CompactRIO chassis. Because of its adaptability, configurations can be customized to match the needs of certain applications.
