National Instruments PCI-6031E Multifunction DAQ

The National Instruments PCI-6031e (Part Number: 777514-01) is a multipurpose data acquisition (DAQ) tool intended for a range of industrial uses, such as research, design verification/test, production, and laboratory automation. It provides dependable DAQ capabilities with two 24-bit counters, digital I/O, and analog input/output (I/O). With digital-to-analog converters (DACs) for voltage outputs and 12-bit and 16-bit analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) with up to 64 analog inputs, this multifunctional board smoothly interfaces with PCI bus PCs.

It has extensive I/O functionality with eight lines of TTL-compatible digital I/O and two 24-bit counter/timers. Its plug-and-play design, which does away with the need for potentiometers, jumpers, or DIP switches, is one of its primary features. The National Instruments MITE bus interface chip makes configuration and calibration simple to handle through software. For accurate time-related operations, the PCI-6031e makes use of the National Instruments DAQ-STC system timing controller.

It consists of three timing groups that manage the general-purpose counter/timer, analog output, and analog input. It enables applications like equivalent time sampling and buffered pulse generation with a maximum timing resolution of 50 ns. Multiple measurement functions can be synced to a shared trigger or timing event using the Real-Time System Integration (RTSI) bus to overcome synchronization difficulties. This feature improves overall system performance by enabling the smooth integration of up to five PCI E Series boards in a computer system.

The PCI-6031e's capabilities are further expanded to enable high-voltage and sensor readings by supporting integration with SCXI signal conditioning modules. For plug-in DAQ boards, SCXI acts as the instrumentation front end, allowing for the capture of data from a variety of sources, including strain gauges, voltage sources, thermocouples, RTDs, and current sources.
