National Instruments 780059-01 PXI Sound and Vibration Module

The National Instruments 780059-01 is PXI Sound and Vibration Module which is also identified as PXI-4495. It is designed for high-channel-count sound and vibration applications. It features 16 input channels with each capable of simultaneous sampling. The module provides 24-bit analog-to-digital conversion using delta-sigma ADCs.

This 780059-01 module supports sampling rates up to 204.8 kS/s that makes it suitable for dynamic and fast-changing signals. Each channel includes software-selectable IEPE signal conditioning that allows users to integrate microphones, accelerometers, and other transducers. The built-in antialiasing filters adjust automatically to the sampling rate.

The NI 780059-01 features two gain settings that offer input ranges from ±1 V to ±10 V. It also provides up to +20 dB gain for increased flexibility. The module includes analog triggers with start or reference trigger types, programmable levels, and selectable slopes. Digital triggers are also supported that are compatible with 5 V TTL signals and capable of handling rising or falling edges with a minimum pulse width of 100 ns.

The input impedance between the positive and negative inputs is 10 MΩ. The 780059-01 unit is equipped with overvoltage protection of ±30 V on the positive terminal and ±5 V on the negative terminal. The interchannel phase mismatch is minimized to ensure phase coherence between channels which is important for applications like noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) analysis and dynamic structural testing.

The NI 780059-01 module interfaces with both PXI and PXI Express systems that support 3.3 V and 5 V signal environments. It requires power inputs of +5 V at 800 mA, +3.3 V at 1700 mA, +12 V at 400 mA, and –12 V at 100 mA. The environmental specifications ensure reliable operation within a temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C. The unit can be mounted at the maximum altitude of 2000 meters above sea level and it can be stored under the temperature range of -20 °C and 70 °C. The NI 780059-01 sound and vibration module meets various safety and EMC standards. The net weight of this NI module is 167 g (5.9 oz.).
