National Instruments 778069-30 RTD Input Module
Part Number 778069-30 is the identifying part number for the National Instruments FP-RTD-PT100 RTD Input Module. It is a two-wire 100 Ω Platinum RTD input module capable of providing 12-bit resolution measurements. The 778069-30 is designed with the linearization curves of a DIN 43760 standard RTD, where the temperature coefficient of resistance equals 0.00385. Note that each channel can be programmed for either degree Celsius or degree Fahrenheit range.
The 778069-30 has two terminals per channel, where the negative terminal, or the “b” terminal, is common for both channels. If your application requires channel-to-channel isolation, you must use only one channel of each module. The RTD Input Module has an input impedance of 100 Ω and an excitation current of 550 µA. The measurement bandwidth of the RTD inputs is 15 Hz and the step response time is 42 ms. Furthermore, there is an input protection of ±6 V for these types of inputs. Moreover, the module has a power requirement of 375 mW max. The 778069-30 supports temperature inputs between –50 to 350 °C or –58 to 662 °F, with a resolution of 0.1 °C or 0.18 °F. The accuracy of the module at 25°C is 0.2 °C or 0.4 °F. The temperature drift, which is the sum of the offset and gain per degree is 0.03 °C + 100 ppm or 0.06 °F + 100 ppm.
The 778069-30 is designed to fit into a FieldPoint Terminal Base, like the FP-TB-10. This terminal base has a power requirement of 200 mW. On the other hand, the module is recommended for operation in between temperature ranges of -40 to 70 °C at a relative humidity of 10 to 90%. However, it can be stored in a wider temperature range of -40 to 85 °C. The RTD module typically weighs 60 g and when fit inside the terminal base of weight 290 g, it leads to a total weight of about 350 g. The modules are designed to meet the requirements of the following safety standards: IEC 61010-1, EN 61010-1, UL 3121-1, UL 61010C-1, and CAN/CSA C22.2 No. 1010.1.
