National Instruments 778071-13 Discrete Output Module

Part Number 778071-13 is the identifying part number for the National Instruments FP-DO-DC60 Discrete Output Module.  It is connected to the FP-TB-10 terminal base. The terminal base connects with different types of I/O modules (analog input, analog output, digital input, digital output) to create a flexible I/O system capable of catering to different I/O needs at a low cost. Six dual-channel modules can be mounted on the terminal base.

In addition, the hot swappable feature allows the installation of the modules while the network module is powered on and is in operation. When a module is replaced by a different module of the same type, the new module automatically configures with the same settings. If a module is replaced by a different type of module, the terminal base resets itself and all six modules request a new configuration.  

The 778071-13 consists of two green indicator LEDs for two channels, indicating each channel's ON or OFF state. Likewise, it also consists of two replaceable fuses, one for each channel. Since the output channels are isolated, they can be used with sinking or sourcing devices. 

This device supports a voltage range of 3 to 60 VDC while the current rating depends on the temperature. At 25°C, the current rating is 0.75 A while at 40°C and 60°C, it is 0.4 A and 0.2 A respectively. Furthermore, the max leakage and max output delay are 1.5 mA and 0.06 ms respectively while the voltage drop is 1.3V at 0.75 A. Moreover, the scan time for the module is 0.2 ms. 

The 778071-13 weighs 2.1 oz and has a field-wiring diameter of 24 to 12 AWG. Likewise, the module is recommended for operating in the temperature range of -40 to 70 °C at a relative humidity of  10 to 90%. On the other hand, the module can be stored at a wider temperature range of -55 to 85 °C.  The module conforms to safety standards IEC 61010-1, EN 61010-1, UL 3121-1, UL 61010C-1, and CAN/CSA C22.2 No. 1010.1.
