National Instruments 785161-01 FlexRIO Digitizer

The National Instruments 785161-01 is a 4 channel FlexRIO digitizer designed for high speed data acquisition and processing. It is also known as the PXIe-5763. This module is capable of simultaneously sampling four analog input channels at 500 MS/s with a 16 bit resolution that provides a wide dynamic range and ensures precise signal fidelity with an analog input bandwidth of 225 MHz. The digitizer is equipped with over 73 dB of Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) that makes it ideal for applications that require high dynamic range and wideband digitization, such as communications, radar and scientific research.

The 785161-01 integrates a reconfigurable FPGA, the KU040 Xilinx Kintex UltraScale. This allows for real-time signal processing and custom algorithm implementation using LabVIEW. The FPGA provides significant processing power with options offering up to 331,680 LUTs, 2,760 DSP48 slices, and 38.0 Mb of embedded block RAM. The module supports various data transfer methods, including Direct Memory Access (DMA), interrupts, programmed I/O, and multi gigabit transceivers (MGT). The 785161-01 digitizer’s digital I/O capabilities include eight single ended channels that support multiple voltage families ranging from 1.2 V to 3.3 V. These channels are bidirectional along with a maximum toggle rate of 60 MHz under a nominal load. The module also features multi gigabit transceiver channels for high speed data transfer along with differential input/output signaling up to 16.375 Gb/s. 

Analog input channels of the National Instruments 785161-01 are single ended, and can be configured for AC coupling. The module uses ADS54J69 16 bit ADCs that provide a full-scale input range of 2.03 Vpp for AC coupled signals. The digitizer offers excellent spectral performance with low noise density and minimal channel-to-channel crosstalk. The 785161-01 unit is compact with dimensions of 2.0 cm × 13.0 cm × 21.6 cm and a weight of 500 g. It is designed for use in indoor environments with an ambient temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C and supports storage temperatures from -40 °C to 71 °C. The module operates efficiently within a 58 W power envelope, supplied via a PCI Express Gen-3 x8 interface.
