National Instruments 785591-01 2-Channel FlexRIO Digitizer

The National Instruments 785591-01 is a high performance PXI FlexRIO Digitizer designed for advanced signal acquisition and processing applications. The model is also known as the PXIe-5775. It provides dual channel AC coupled analog input with a bandwidth of 6 GHz and a resolution of 12 bits. The device supports two operational modes: a dual channel mode at 3.2 GS/s and a single channel interleaved mode at 6.4 GS/s. The digitizer's wide passband from 1 MHz to over 6 GHz makes it ideal for capturing high frequency signals with precision.

This digitizer offers eight single ended channels with support for multiple voltage families (3.3 V, 2.5 V, 1.8 V, 1.5 V, and 1.2 V). The device also includes high speed serial MGT channels capable of data rates from 500 Mbps to 16.375 Gbps. The digital I/O channels are bi directional that allows for configurable direction control on a per channel basis with a maximum output toggle rate of 60 MHz. The 785591-01 is equipped with a reconfigurable Xilinx Kintex UltraScale FPGA which supports real time signal processing and custom algorithm implementation. This FPGA can be programmed using LabVIEW. The device features a 4 GB onboard DRAM divided into two banks with a clock rate of 1064 MHz and providing a theoretical data rate of up to 17 GB/s. This high speed memory interface supports demanding data acquisition and processing tasks. The analog input section is designed for precise signal acquisition that features SMA connectors with a 50 Ω input impedance. The internal sample clock runs at 3.2 GHz along with the option to use an external sample clock ranging from 2.8 GHz to 3.2 GHz. The device’s ADC provides a 12 bit resolution that ensures accurate digitization of analog signals. The input latency is kept low at 239 ns which is crucial for time sensitive applications.

The NI 785591-01 is a compact module with dimensions of 18.8 cm × 12.9 cm. It operates within a wide temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C and can withstand high levels of shock and vibration. The module consumes a maximum power of 58 W and is designed for indoor use with a pollution degree of 2. The device also supports intermodule synchronization using NI-TClk that allows multiple modules to be synchronized with high precision.
