National Instruments 785647-01 FlexRIO Digitizer

The National Instruments 785647-01 (PXIe-5774) is a high performance, 2-channel FlexRIO Digitizer. The model offers a broad variety of cutting-edge characteristics appropriate for demanding applications in particle physics, medical imaging, and scientific instruments. The digitizer runs at a resolution of 12 bits and provides up to 3 GHz of DC coupled analog bandwidth. It can operate at a sampling rate of 3.2 GS/s per channel in dual channel mode or 6.4 GS/s in single channel interleaved mode. This adaptability enables accurate time-domain measurements throughout a range of software-selectable voltage ranges, from 200 mV peak-to-peak to 1 V peak-to-peak.

The 785647-01 is equipped with a reconfigurable Xilinx Kintex UltraScale FPGA which supports real time signal processing and the implementation of custom algorithms via the LabVIEW environment. This FPGA offers options with up to 331,680 LUTs, 2,760 DSP slices and 38.0 Mb of embedded Block RAM. The FPGA can manage data clock domains at 200 MHz, facilitating efficient data transfers through DMA channels, interrupts, or programmed I/O. The onboard DRAM with a maximum theoretical data rate of 17 GB/s ensures that high speed data acquisition and processing are handled with minimal latency.

This 2-channel FlexRIO Digitizer features versatile digital I/O capabilities that include eight single ended channels that support various voltage families from 1.2 V to 3.3 V along with a maximum output toggle rate of 60 MHz. It includes high speed serial multi gigabit transceivers (MGT) along with four transmit (Tx) and four receive (Rx) channels that support data rates up to 16.375 Gb/s. Analog input characteristics of the NI 785647-01 are optimized for high fidelity signal acquisition. The input impedance is set at 50 Ω along with DC coupling and a sample clock jitter as low as 85 fs RMS. The module provides robust analog trigger options with an input voltage range of ±5 V and a minimum pulse width of 5 ns. 

The digitizer integrates seamlessly into PXI Express systems and offers a PCI Express Gen-3 x8 bus interface for high throughput data transfer. It also supports intermodule synchronization using NI-TClk for precise alignment of sample clocks across multiple modules. The 785647-01 is engineered to operate within a wide environmental range, maintaining performance from 0°C to 55°C and up to 2000 meters in altitude.
