The National Instruments 788714-01 (model PXIe-1487) is a FlexRIO GMSL2 Interface Module. It is specially designed for high-throughput vision and imaging applications. It integrates the Gigabit Multimedia Serial Link (GMSL™) interface This module features 4 input and 4 output channels that utilizes MAX96717 serializers and MAX96716A deserializers that supports both Tunneling and Pixel modes.
The NI 788714-01 operates on a PCI Express Gen-3 x8 form factor and is powered by a Xilinx KU11P FPGA. The FPGA is equipped with 298,560 LUTs, 2,928 DSP48 slices, and 21 Mb of embedded block RAM. This configuration ensures high performance and reconfigurability. The FPGA’s capabilities are further enhanced by 22 Mb of embedded UltraRAM™ and 4 GB of onboard DRAM (2x blanks or 2 GB each). This memory architecture supports a maximum theoretical data rate of 17 GB/s.
The 788714-01 module's I/O characteristics include GMSL2 standards with power-over-coax (PoC) capabilities that supports data rates up to 6 GB/s. It features FAKRA male code Z coaxial connectors for both input (SI) and output (SO) channels. The output range of PoC is 9 V to 30 V and a maximum current requirement per channel is 800 mA.
