National Instruments PXIe-1488 FlexRIO FPD-Link Interface Module

The PXIe-1488 (part numbers: 788350-01, 788351-01, 788352-01) from National Instruments is a diverse FlexRIO FPD-Link Interface Module that utilizes and tests contemporary ADA systems, autonomous driving sensors, and ECUs via a high-speed digital interface. This versatile module is available in three FlexRIO FPD-Link IV variations, functioning as a deserializer (part number 788350-01), a serializer (part number 788352-01), or a SERDES module (part number 788351-01). Designed for use with a wide range of test and measurement applications, the PXIe-1488 features a reconfigurable KU11P FPGA. 

This interface module is built with plenty of memory and space for a range of uses- boasting 21 MB of embedded block RAM and 22 MB of embedded UltraRAM™. In addition, the PXIe-1488 has 2 banks with 2 GB of onboard DRAM. The device has coaxial HFM Male Code Z connectors for both input and output. In terms of timing and synchronization, the device has a timebase of 100 MHz that is shared by all ports.

The deserializer capability of the PXIe-1488 features 8 input channels, while the serializer function utilizes 8 output channels. Both variations utilize a D-PHY CSI-2 interface that is equipped with 1, 2, or 4 lanes. The SerDes variation of the interface module has 4 input channels and 4 output channels, allowing for 4 maximum tap pairs per module. The total backplane power of the PXIe-1488 reaches a maximum of 82 W. The backplane achieves a maximum power of 3.0 A for a power source of 3.3 V and a maximum of 6.0 A for a source of 12 V.

Built to operate reliably in a range of environmental conditions, the PXIe-1488 has an operating temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C with a noncondensing operating humidity spanning from 10% to 90%. When not in use, the interface module can be safely stored with temperatures ranging from -40 °C to 71 °C with a noncondensing humidity of 5% to 95%. The bus interface of the PXIe-1488 has a PCI Express Gen-3 x8 form factor, and it measures dimensions of 21.6 cm × 4.1 cm × 13.0 cm (8.5 in. × 1.6 in. × 5.1 in.). The 2 slot device weighs in at 650 g (22.93 oz).
