National Instruments GPIB-1014P Interface for VMEbus

The GPIB-1014P is an IEEE-488 based interface specially designed for VMEbus. The creator of this GPIB Interface is National Instruments. The part numbers allocated to this GPIB interface 776062-01 (GPIB-1014P-1) and 776063-01 (GPIB-1014P-2). The GPIB-1014P-1 is a 3U interface, while the GPIB-1014P-2 is a 3U interface with a 6U front panel. The NI GPIB-1014P interface allows the user to control all the instruments that are compatible with the IEEE-488 interface through a VMEbus based computer. The IEEE-488 compatible instruments can be from any discipline including engineering, scientific, or medical. This GPIB Interface is integrated with specific characteristics to effectively send and receive signals and messages to/from the VMEbus.

The NI GPIB-1014P interface can be used as a controller, talker, or listener. This GPIB Interface can utilize the NEC µPD7210 chip for the listening mode. The transfer rate for this GPIB Interface is 80 kbytes/sec. The data transfer rate can be increased up to 1 Mbyte/sec if a processor with high performance and driver software is used. The National Instruments GPIB-1014P can additionally be used with optional cables to connect the interface with other devices. The GPIB-1014P can be used with a DC power supply. The voltage level needed for this interface is +5 VDC with a maximum current requirement of 1.0 A.

The connectivity of the NI GPIB-1014P with the VMEbus backplane is accomplished through a 96-pin DIN 41612 connector. The GPIB-1014P also comes with convenient connectivity options with other interfaces. This GPIB Interface is available with a standard 24-pin connector mounted on the front plate. The recommended operating temperature for the NI GPIB-1014P is 0° to 70° C.
