National Instruments 779072-01 Multifunction I/O Device
Designed to provide high-performance analog and digital I/O, counters/timers, and triggering capabilities, National Instruments' 779072-01 Multifunction I/O Device is a member of the PCI-6259 series. Many applications, such as research, design verification/testing, factory testing, and laboratory automation, are well suited for this device.
The 779072-01 can sample data at up to 1.25 MS/s and has 32 analog input channels with 16-bit resolution. These channels can be set up as 32 single-ended or 16 differential inputs by the user. With a crosstalk performance of -75 dB for adjacent channels and -95 dB for non-adjacent channels, the device guarantees that no codes are lost and offers good crosstalk performance. It effectively manages high-speed data gathering operations with a 4,095-sample input FIFO and a limited signal bandwidth of 1.7 MHz. Complex measurement settings are made easier by the scan list memory, which allows up to 4,095 items. Along with USB data streaming, it allows data transfers via PCI/PCI Express/PXI/PXI Express utilizing interrupts, DMA (scatter-gather), and programmable I/O.
The 779072-01 provides one trigger source from either APFI <0, 1> or AI <0..31> for analog triggering. It supports various trigger functions, including Start Trigger, Reference Trigger, Pause Trigger, Sample Clock, and Convert Clock. For AI channels, the source level is ±Full scale; for APFI channels, it is ±10 V, with a precision of 10 bits.
With four analog output channels and 16-bit resolution, the device can update at a rate of 2.8 MS/s. Precision signal generation for control applications is ensured by these outputs, which also boast a differential non-linearity (DNL) of ±1 LSB and guarantee monotonicity.
The 779072-01 also provides extensive digital I/O capabilities, featuring 48 total channels—32 on port 0 and 16 on PFI ports. Each digital line has a minimum of 20 kΩ and a typical of 50 kΩ for pull-down resistors, allowing for separate programming of each line for input or output. Up to two pins can have input voltage protection up to ±20 V.
