The National Instruments 780114-01, also known as the USB-6229, is a multifunction I/O device. Because of its extensive analog and digital I/O capabilities, this device can be used for a variety of tasks, such as research, laboratory automation, design verification and testing, and industrial testing. It offers digital I/O, counters/timers, digital triggering, analog inputs and outputs, and a cost-effective solution for data acquisition (DAQ) requirements. The device's sensor and high-voltage measurement capabilities can be improved by pairing it with SCC or SCXI signal conditioning modules.
With a 16-bit resolution, the 780114-01 has 16 differential or 32 single-ended analog input channels. Using a differential non-linearity (DNL) specification, it ensures that there are no missing codes. With a timing accuracy of 50 ppm of the sample rate and a timing resolution of 50 ns, the device can support a maximum sample rate of 250 kS/s for both single and multichannel setups. It guarantees 16-bit assured monotonicity and has four analog output channels with a DNL of ±1 LSB and 16-bit resolution.
For digital I/O, the 780114-01 provides 48 channels, divided into 32 channels on port 0 and 16 programmable function interface (PFI) channels on ports 1 and 2. Each terminal can be individually programmed as input or output, with a typical pull-down resistor of 50 kΩ and a minimum of 20 kΩ. The digital I/O channels offer ±20 V input voltage protection on up to two pins. Using its two 32-bit general-purpose counters/timers, this Multifunction I/O Device can measure two-edge separation, pulse, semi-period, period, and edge counting.
With Channel Z reloading, it offers two-pulse encoding in addition to quadrature encoding for X1, X2, and X4 position measurements. Other applications for the counters/timers include frequency division, equivalent time sampling, pulse trains with dynamic updates, and pulse generation. While exterior base clock frequencies span from 0 MHz to 20 MHz and have a 50 ppm base clock accuracy, internal base clocks are available at 80 MHz, 20 MHz, and 0.1 MHz.
