National Instruments PCI-6229 Multifunction DAQ

Featured with 32 single-ended or 16 differential AI, 4 AO, and 48 DIO, the National Instruments PCI-6229 (Part Number: 779068-01, 191329B-01 ) is an M Series Data Acquisition Device. With this model, the user can have 32 single ended DC coupled or 16 differential DC coupled channels at 16-bit resolution. These channels are capable of operating at four input ranges: ±0.2 V, ±1 V, ±5 V, and ±10 V. The maximum voltage allowed for the analog inputs (common mode + signal) is ±11 V of AI (analog input) GND.

The PCI-6229 DAQ is a budget DAQ device with sophisticated performance since it ensures as low as -75 dB crosstalk between adjacent channels and -90 dB between non-adjacent channels. For efficient acquisitions, the National Instruments PCI-6229 DAQ comes with 4,095 samples input FIFO, as well as a 4,095 entries scan list memory. This PCI based model supports data transfers in three modes: DMA, programmed I/O, and interrupts mode. The PCI 6229 NI also offers overvoltage protection for all sense and analog input channels (set at ±25 V).

This DAQ device is known for its effective channel configuration that includes four analog output channels. The maximum update rate achievable with one channel in operation is 833 kS/s. However, the user can achieve 740 kS/s, 666 kS/s, and 625 kS/s per channel while operating with two, three, and four channels respectively. The analog outputs incorporated in this device have ±10 V output range, 50 ns timing resolution, 0.2 Ω output impedance, and they support DC output coupling. Moreover, the output current drive possible from the NI PCI-6229 is ±5 mA.

The NI device weighs 3.5 oz, and measures 4.2 x 6.1 in. in physical dimensions. It has recommended operating and storage temperature ranges of 0 ºC to 55 ºC and -20 ºC to 70 ºC respectively, a non-condensing humidity range of 10% RH to 90% RH, operating and non-operating random vibrations of 0.3 grms and 2.4 grms respectively–all at a frequency range of 5 to 500 Hz.
