National Instruments PXI-6281 PXI Multifunction I/O Module

With the NI PXI-6281 (Part Number: 779121-01) Multifunction I/O Module, to begin any counter input or output function, the user should first empower or arm the counter. The software can gather a counter or configure counters to arm itself in a hardware signal. The software calls this Arm StartTrigger hardware signal, inside the software routes the Start Activator to the nHW counter counter input of the counter. For counter output tasks, a start trigger can be arranged to start a limited or consistent pulse generation. After a continuous generation has set off, the pulses keep on generating until the user stops the operation in software. For limited generations, the specified number of pulses is created and the generation stops unless the retriggerable attribute is used. The PXI-6281 has 16 Analog Input channels with 18 Bits resolution and 625 kS/s maximum sample rate, 2 AO, and 24 DIO.

The NI device is run using the NIDAQmx driver software which is compatible with software packages or application development environments (ADEs) such as LabVIEW or LabWindows/CVI. The PXI-6281 has a recommended warm-up time of 15 minutes, and should be calibrated at least once every 2 years.

According to the PXI-6281 datasheet, this model allows the user to utilize pause triggers in edge counting and continuous pulse generation applications. For edge counting acquisitions, the counter stops counting edges while the outside trigger signal is low and continues when the signal goes high or the other way around. With the PXI-6281, the user can also empower a programmable debouncing filter on each PFI, RTSI, or PXI_STAR signal. When the channels are empowered, the NI PXI-6281 Multifunction I/O Module samples the input on each rising edge of a channel clock. The M Series modules utilize an onboard-oscillator to produce the channel clock with a 40 MHz frequency.

The standard 3U PXI device weighs 7.9 oz. It has a recommended operating temperature range of 0 ºC to 55 ºC, a storage temperature range of -20 ºC to 70 ºC, a noncondensing humidity range of 10% RH to 90% RH. The module is designed to comply with the following electrical safety standards: IEC 61010-1, EN 61010-1, UL 61010-1, and CSA 61010-1.
