National Instruments 783595-01 Stepper and Servo Motor Motion Drive Device

Part Number 783595-01 is the identifying part number for the National Instruments SMD-7615 Stepper and Servo Motor Motion Drive Device. This device can control four-lead, six-lead, and eight-lead motors where the six-lead motor can be connected in series or center tap and the eight-lead motor can be connected in series or parallel. Features like electronic or anti-resonance damping give stable motor performance at higher speeds, whereas torque ripple smoothing gives smooth operation at lower speeds. 

The 783595-01 requires a supply voltage of 12 to 53 VDC and can provide a drive current of 0.1 A to 5 A. The step and direction digital inputs are optically isolated and work on a 5V logic. The internal resistance in  these inputs is 330 Ω and the minimum pulse width and minimum set-up are 0.5 µsec and 2 µsec respectively. Besides the step and direction inputs, other digital inputs are optically isolated and work on 12V to 24V logic levels. The internal resistance in these inputs is 2200 Ω. On the other hand, the input voltage on the analog inputs is ±10 VDC and the internal resistance is 100 kΩ.  

The 783595-01 features a photodarlington output capable of handling a maximum voltage of 30 VDC and a maximum current of 100 mA. The maximum voltage and current in the +5 V output are +5 VDC and 100 mA respectively. 

The 783595-01 requires a CAT5 Ethernet Cable to connect to a PC’s network card, a router, or a switch. The device also consists of a 16-position rotary switch to set the IP address. The PC that is used to control the device must be running Microsoft Windows 8.1/8/7/Vista/XP SP3. Likewise, it requires LabVIEW 2014 or later with the LabVIEW SoftMotion Module 2014 f1 or later. The NI Stepper Configuration Utility is  available on the NI downloads webpage.
