National Instruments ISM-7400 Integrated Stepper
The National Instruments ISM-7400 is an integrated stepper that is designed to enhance the efficiency and longevity of your motorized system. The NI ISM-7400 is designed to support a supply voltage range of 12 VDC to 48 VDC, providing you with versatile compatibility across various applications. Comprehensive protection features; including over-voltage, under-voltage, over-current, and over-temperature safeguards guarantee the safety and longevity of your motorized system. The stepper is made for use with NI 7330/7340/7350 motion controllers.
For optimal performance, the ISM-7400 integrated stepper should be placed on a smooth and flat metal surface. Doing so enables efficient heat dissipation that will safeguard your motor from overheating. For applications that demand enhanced cooling, it is recommended to use a fan. The ISM-7400 can be securely connected by using four M3 screws, as the mounting hole depth of 4.5 mm provides ample room for a reliable installation.
The NI ISM-7400 is available in three different configurations: the ISM-7400 (single-shaft), the ISM-7400D (dual-shaft), and the ISM-7400E (dual-shaft with a 1000-line incremental encoder).
To facilitate seamless integration into your control system, the NI ISM-7400 is optically isolated and supports 5 V to 24 V of logic. The stepper is able to acommodate sourcing, sinking, or differential signals, ensuring compatibility with a wide array of control interfaces.
In addition to a reliable power source, you will require a compatible step signal source, such as a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) or a motion controller. These step signals provide precise control over the motor's movement, enabling seamless operation and synchronization with your application. To ensure a safe electrical connection, the NI ISM-7400 incorporates an internal fuse that connects to the positive terminal of the power supply.
The NI ISM-7400 boasts three inputs to accommodate a range of control signals:
STEP: This input allows for precise control of the motor’s rotational movement, and it can accept logic signals in a range from 5 V to 24 V.
DIR: This high-speed digital input allows for control of the motor direction with incredible accuracy.
EN: This input allows the user to have full control over the power of the motor, allowing for rapid and precise adjustments.
