National Instruments MID-7602 Stepper Motor Drive
Designed to offer easy-to-connect 2-axis drive solutions, the National Instruments NI MID-7602 (Part Numbers: 778003-01 and 778003-05) is an integrated stepper type motor power drive. This model offers stepper motor control from the National Instruments NI-7340, NI-7330, and NI-7350 controllers.
The NI MID-7602 comes equipped with a bipolar, modular hybrid chopper, i.e., IM481H, which has 20 kHz chopping operating frequency. For DC-brush motors, this drive has an electronic architecture that changes analog control signals coming from the controller into the connected motor’s winding current. The PWM technology in the National Instruments MID-7602 offers precise controlling of the motor winding current. This technology also helps in improving overall efficiency of the motor by maintaining its temperatures and ripple current at optimum levels.
An active fan cooling mechanism incorporated in this drive maintains an optimal environment for motion power drives. The NI MID-7602 is designed to supply 24 VDC nominal motor bus voltage and 0.2 to 1.4 A peak current per phase with additional features, including user-selectable peak current and micro-stepping. For power requirements, the unit comes with an integrated power supply that can operate over 90-138 VAC and 204-264 VAC input voltage ranges.
As far as its physical characteristics are concerned, the dimension of the drive are 12.1 by 10.0 by 1.7 inches and it weighs 10 lb. The National Instruments MID-7602 can handle 0 to 12 VDC home, inhibit, and limit switch inputs at each of its two axes. All control commands and feedback signals from the motion controller to the MID-7602 are transferred via a shielded cable.
