National Instruments MID-7604 Stepper Motor Drive
Designed for NI-7330, NI-7350, and NI-7340 motion controllers, the NI MID-7604 (Part Numbers: 777936-01, 777936-02, 777936-03, 777936-04, 777936-06) is a Stepper Motor Drive. This model offers 0.2 A to 1.4 A motor drive current at 24 VDC over its 4 selectable axes. It is equipped with an IM481H modular hybrid bipolar chopper driver type which has an operating frequency of 20 kHz. The NI MID-7604 is a complete integrated solution ideally suited to laboratory and industrial applications. It conta ins everything needed to connect encoders, limit switches, motors and other motion hardware elements to compatible National Instruments motion controllers.
This drive works as a complete system interface and power amplifier for four axes simultaneous controlling. With its flexible current-per-phase setting the NI MID-7604 can drive a wide range of stepper motors. To simplify field wiring, separate motor power, limit switch and encoder connector blocks are available for each axis. The NI MID-7604 comes with four levels of amplifier disable/inhibit protection for initiating a motion system shutdown. For additional safety, this model features a host bus interlock circuit that is used to shut down all the connected stepper drives immediately as it disconnects from the host computer.
The integrated power supply of the MID-7604 can be configured for 230 VAC, 50 Hz or 115 VAC, 60Hz operation through a live voltage select switch. It has a continuous power output rating of 80 W for its 4 axes, a maximum quadrature frequency of 1 MHz. In its default configuration, the unit comes to provide 10-times micro-stepping (I.e. 2000 steps/rev). However, a broad range of microstep rate settings are possible through manipulation of DIP switches 6, 7, 8, and 9. For motor power wiring, each axis on the National Instruments MID-7604 comes with a dedicated 5-position screw terminal block. The device is equipped with a 68-pin female high density VHDCI motion I/O connector.
The NI device weighs 10 lb, and measures 12.1 x 10.0 x 1.7 in. in physical dimensions. It has recommended operating and storage temperature ranges of 0 ºC to 40 ºC and –20 ºC to 70 ºC respectively, and a non-condensing humidity range of 10% to 90% RH.
