National Instruments MID-7654 Servo Motor Drive
The National Instruments MID-7654 (Part Numbers: 778005-01 and 778005-05) is a 4-axis version of the NI MID-7652. This motor drive is designed for NI-7350 and NI-7340 motion controllers. The MID-7654 is considered a completely integrated solution for challenging industrial applications. This drive utilizes high-efficiency and highly reliable PWM amplifiers configured to operate as torque blocks (transconductance amplifiers or current amplifiers).
With this model, you can have all encoders, I/O, motors, and limit switches connected directly to NI motion controllers. The NI MID-7654 comes with numerous safety features. In addition to 5VDC host bus power signal, it can also receive critical signals, such as overload and overtemperature signals to initiate a complete or partial shutdown. The host pus power interlock triggers a global shutdown if the host computer is shut down. This model has a powerful front panel that contains arrays of Status LEDs, DIP switch banks, AC Power Switch, ENABLE Switch, etc. The ENABLE switch inhibits the servo amplifiers instantly when turned OFF.
In its default configuration, the amplifier continuous and peak current limits are set for 10 A peak current output and 5 A continuous current output. However, the user can adjust the peak and continuous current limit for each axis by manipulating relevant DIP switches. The NI MID-7654 has all the connectors available on its back panel. These connectors include; motion controller connector, trigger connector, analog input/output connector, AC power connector, step/direction connector, and breakpoint connector. In addition to this, dedicated Encoder, Limit, and Motor connectors are provided for each axis.
