Featured with 4 optically isolated singled-ended inputs, for sinking or sourcing signal the NI SMD-7615 (Part Number: 783595-01) is a Stepper Motion Drive Device. This device offers easy-to-connect, reliable drive solutions for general-purpose motion control applications. The SMD-7615 incorporates sophisticated control technology to offer high-performance with quiet and smooth motion. These features include electronic damping, torque ripple smoothing, and microstep emulation. Electronic or anti-resonance damping ensures stable motor performance at high speeds, whereas at lower speeds torque ripple smoothing confirms the smoother operation. With this device, users can easily develop their customized, stepper motion control, since it is fully compatible with National Instruments LabVIEW SoftMotion Module.
The National Instruments SMD-7615 Motion Drive Device is designed to provide 0.5 A to 5 A drive current. This device requires an 18 VDC to 53 VDC power supply to operate. This Stepper Motion Drive Device uses a Step/Direction ENET control interface and can be used with motors that have an inductance rating between 1 mH to 6 mH. The SMD-7615 supports 2-phase motors including eight-wire, six-wire, and four-wire bipolar motors. Eight-wire and six-wire motors can be wired in series or parallel.
The NI SMD-7615 comes equipped with a standard Ethernet connector. You can easily connect the drive to your PC by using a CAT 5 Ethernet cable. In this way, you can configure the Motion Drive Device by using a fast Ethernet connection. This device has 4 general-purpose digital outputs. You can use these outputs to signal fault conditions or to indicate a motor’s movement.
SMD-7615 Mature Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the Motion Drive Device will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
