Featured with encoder feedback and NI LabVIEW support, the SMD-7616 (Part Number: 783598-01) is a Stepper Motion Drive Device from National Instruments. This device works with 24 VDC to 70 VDC power supplies and can provide up to 10 A maximum drive current per phase. The NI SMD-7616 comes with three types of inputs, including 12 V to 24 V digital logic inputs, 5.5 V logic inputs for direction/step commands, and analog inputs. This device has eight digital inputs. With this device, you can inhibit motion in a predefined direction by configuring CW and CCW limits.
The 4 software programmable inputs of this device can be utilized for alarm reset, motor enables or jogging, and can also be connected to switches and sensors. Through analog input signals, you can generate a velocity or position command. Analog signals can be configured for ±10 V, 0 to 5 V, ±5 V, or 0 to 10 V with or without an offset. The NI SMD-7616 incorporates two high-speed inputs called DIR and STEP. These inputs accept 5V differential or single-ended signals up to 2 MHz. Usually, these inputs connect to an externally located dedicated controller that provides direction and step command signals.
