National Instruments 778636-01 PXI Chassis

The National Instruments 778636-01 PXI Chassis is an integral part of the PXI-1042 model series. This 8-slot, 3U-sized chassis is perfect for usage in offices, labs, and educational settings because of its low acoustic noise emissions. It is specifically made to fulfill the demanding cooling and power requirements necessary for today's PXI applications.

With its sturdy 8-slot PXI backplane and high-output power supply, this high-performance chassis ensures optimal usage in a wide range of applications. Its highly maintainable modular architecture yields a very low mean time to repair (MTTR). With its sophisticated timing and synchronization characteristics, the 778636-01 PXI Chassis completely conforms to the PXI Specification, Revision 2.0. It may be used with both PXI and CompactPCI (PICMG 2.0 R 3.0) modules.

A universal AC input with automated voltage and frequency range from 100 to 240 VAC and 50/60 Hz is supported by the chassis. It achieves a typical efficiency of 70% and has a 10 A circuit breaker for over-current safety. The front-panel power switch facilitates simple control of the internal chassis power supply, while the AC power cord functions as the primary power disconnector and manages power. Additionally, remote voltage monitoring and control are available via a D-SUB 9-pin connector on the rear panel.

The 778636-01 chassis uses two 60 cfm fans as part of a forced air circulation system to provide ideal cooling. By adjusting fan speed in response to air intake temperature, the temperature-sensing module reduces audible noise. Effective heat dissipation is ensured by exhaust running down both sides and the top of the chassis, which directs cooling from the bottom rear of the chassis to the top.

Forced air circulation is also used in the power supply cooling system, where the left side is used for exhaust and the right side for intake. An LED power supply failure warning on the front panel of the chassis improves its use and troubleshooting skills.
