National Instruments PXI-8155 PXI Controller
Featured with all the standard I/O built in, the National Instruments PXI-8155 is a high-performance embedded computer. This controller utilizes state-of-the-art packaging and technology to create a completely PC-compatible controller for the PXI. This model comes equipped with onboard PCI video and is still capable of connecting to the PXI bus without a PCI-to-PCI bridge. Thus, it preserves the entire 132 MB/s PCI bandwidth for the remaining PXI boards. The PXI-8155 supports masters in all 7 PXI slots. The inclusion of various PC peripherals enables the user to install their own, custom-designed peripheral devices in all available PXI slots.
For mass storage of data, this embedded computer offers a 1.44 MB floppy drive and a 2.5 in. Hard drive (2 GB). The other peripheral I/O included are: 1 Super VGA, 1 serial port, 1 IEEE 1284 parallel port, 1 USB connector, 16 MB installed EDO DRAM, and 1 PS/2 keyboard and mouse. With this module, the user will be able to have the total memory upgraded easily, since its memory sockets are kept accessible to the user.
To achieve full PXI system slot control of a PXI based system, the user can utilize the NI PXI-8155. When plugged into the system slot of a PXI chassis, this controller provides master/slave functionality to all available slots in the system. For peripheral expansion, this model uses the ISA bus and PCI local bus. Its PCI bus can achieve a top throughput of 132 MB/s since it is a 32-bit multi-master bus.
PXI-8155 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the controller will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
