National Instruments 788917-01 PXI High-Speed Serial Instrument
The National Instruments 788917-01, or PXIe-7903, is a high speed serial instrument designed for engineers requiring FPGA based coprocessing capabilities. It integrates the Xilinx Virtex UltraScale+ FPGA to facilitate the testing, interfacing and validation of various high speed serial protocols. This module is equipped with multi gigabit transceivers (MGTs) delivering 48 transmit and receive lanes. It supports data rates from 500 Mb/s to 28.2 Gb/s and offers flexibility in handling a range of high speed serial communication applications.
The FPGA transceivers are supported by SMA connectors for clock input (CLK IN) and clock output (CLK OUT). These connectors provide precise timing controls with the clock output supporting frequencies between 2.344 MHz and 1,000 MHz and output voltage ranges from 0.61 V to 1.04 V peak-to-peak. The clock input accepts frequencies from 10 MHz to 300 MHz and operates within a 0.3 V to 4 V peak-to-peak range.
The NI 788917-01 has an onboard reconfigurable FPGA with 2,835K logic cells and 9,216 DSP slices that enable extensive customization through the LabVIEW FPGA Module. The inclusion of 20 GB of onboard DRAM that operates at a clock rate of 1333 MHz provides high data throughput. The RAM offers a maximum theoretical data rate of 53.2 GB/s that makes this module ideal for high speed data processing.
The 788917-01 supports eight digital I/O (DIO) channels with single ended signal types and various voltage families (1.8V, 2.5V, 3.3V). Each DIO channel has a controllable signal direction and the module offers a maximum frequency of 60 MHz. This makes it suitable for interfacing with a wide range of digital systems. The module also includes advanced features like 60 DMA channels and supporting efficient data transfer across the PCI Express Gen-3 x8 interface.
This serial instrument is designed for use in demanding environments with robust physical and environmental characteristics. It operates in temperatures between 0 °C and 40 °C and can withstand storage temperatures from - 40 °C to 71 °C. The module is built to endure vibrations and shocks typically encountered in industrial or testing environments. The model has a power requirement of up to 164 W.
